Top Booming Suburbs of Seattle

According to a study by MSN real estate and Coldwell Banker which conducted studies with over 1500 US suburbs based on economy and lifestyle for the top booming in the US, 4 out of the top 10 were in Washington state.

Sammamish Washington, Mercer Island, Maple Valley and Cottage Lake Washington about 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, all made the top 10 list.Top Booming Suburbs of Seattle

IT companies, finance, insurance and medical firms all called the Seattle area home and because of this many homebuyers are looking for that “Andy Griffith-Style” neighborhood.

Maple Valley is located about 30 minutes south of Seattle on the Puget Sound’s East side. It’s easily accessible along Highway 169 or Highway 18 from Auburn. The average listing price in Maple Valley is about $375,000 and the median sales price is $302,000 which is up 11% over last year at this time. Maple Valley is far enough out of the Seattle area to really have a country feel all of its own. It’s nestled around several lakes in parks and has a top-rated school district.

Cottage Lake Washington is located North of Seattle near the Woodinville and Maltby area. It’s accessible along I405, Highway 520 up 203 or South from 522. The average listing price in this area is about $800,000 and the median sales price is $535,000 which is up $56,000 for nearly 12% over last year at this time. The average home sold within the last month was between $300,000 and $600,000.

Sammamish is also located on Seattle’s Eastside nestled up against the shores of Lake Sammamish just North of Issaquah. This is home to fantastic school districts, lots of parks, lakefront property and higher-end homes. The average listing price for Sammamish is $870,000 and the median sales price is $640,000 up over 16% or $90,000 from last year at this time.

Mercer Island is located in the middle of Lake Washington easily accessible along I 90 which runs East and West through the state of Washington from Seattle to the East side and beyond. Mercer Island is one of the more expensive places to live in the Seattle area with an average listing price of $2.3 million. The median sales price is $885,000 and the average sales price is $920,000. These are gorgeous waterfront homes, spectacular views, and larger lots. The Mercer Island school district is one of the state’s best.
